Strapping is used throughout the packaging industry for a mix of reasons, including bundling/fastening goods together for easier handling, securing items to pallets and crates, reinforcing cartons and boxes.
When transporting different weight loads the right equipment is essential to ensure they are secure. Purchasing strapping that won’t let you down is essential, so you can secure every load with confidence.
Woven and Hot Melt Corded polyester strapping is very easy to use, manufactured by gluing together polyester filaments giving it extra strength. Despite its strength and high breaking strains, this corded strapping remains six times lighter than steel strapping, making it a warehouse essential. It will not rust or rot nor mark or scratch product surfaces. Use this strapping when securing heavy pallets, containers or for bundling industrial items. No special tools are required to cut corded polyester strapping, simply cut with scissors. For extra safety, the strapping ends can be split in two and knotted after the buckle has been fastened.
Hand strapping in a 19mm width 500m roll is an ideal and perfect solution for securing heavy loads. On a cardboard core size of 78mm.
Corded Strapping
Stronger, safer and greener alternative to steel. An ideal and perfect solution for securing heavy loads, high-strength corded strapping is stronger than polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) and is extremely durable with a high breaking strain. Used mainly for manual strapping and uses buckles rather than seals. Softer than steel and with good ‘memory’ it holds loads more securely with out damage and it is safer and cheaper than steel.
3 versions of corded polyester strapping are available.
– Woven has good memory and holds loads more securely. Stronger, safer and greener alternative to steel.
– Composite features a plastic coating that increases its abrasion resistance and rigidity, making it easier to feed through a pallet frame.
– Hotmelt non-woven, monofilament strap has a higher break strain and system strength than composite.
Polypropylene Strapping
For light to medium duty bundling and palletising, Polypropylene strapping wound onto either a cardboard or plastic core. An economical plastic strapping solution. Embossed to ensure superior split resistance and strong seal joints. Compatible with most types of metal seals and friction-weld sealing used in automated strapping machinery. Due to the relatively low cost of the raw material, polypropylene accounts for the highest proportion of all strapping used globally.
Polyester Strapping
One of the strongest plastic strapping products. Extruded polyester is similar in appearance to polypropylene but has a higher breaking strain and is more elastic so is used for heavy duty loads. Polyester strapping is recommended as the viable alternative to steel strapping. Used in the brick, lumber and textile industries, polyester strapping will withstand and retain higher tension than any other form of plastic strapping.
Steel Strapping
High-quality steel strapping is used where high strength and abrasion resistance are required. For situations when sharp-edged or very heavy loads are being strapped. This would be the preferred strapping material for the construction and building industry and steel manufacturers due to the very high breaking strain provided. It is however gradually being replaced with woven polyester.
Bale Strapping
Bailing tape or bale press strap is the ideal solution for compacting bales or awkward loads. Bale strapping is a strong, safe alternative to bailing wire and does not tear or fray. It is simply tied or used in a baler or waster compactor.
Break Strain is the force required to break strap when placed under pressure along its length.
System Strength is the maximum force sustainable by the combination of strap and buckle.
If you are new to strapping, you will need to consider purchasing all the strapping tools such as, tensioner tool and sealer tool or an automated machine. Strapping kits consist of strapping, tensioner, sealer, seals, and with the option of a mobile strapping trolley. Get in touch for strapping kits and or machines.
