Description
Polyester (PET), polypropylene (PP) or steel hand strapping seals and buckles add a strong secure seal to strapping and prevent contents from moving during transit or storage. Strapping seals and buckles are often essential to ensure a tight seal for adequate strap tension. Low tension can lead to a risk of containers toppling and the items within becoming broken or damaged.
Steel buckles work together with corded polyester and some polypropylene strapping to create a secure and safe way to bundle your products and consignments. Feed the corded strapping through the steel buckle and it will auto lock holding the strapping in place. This allows the strapping to be tensioned at will and can be re-tensioned should the goods settle during transit creating slack in the strapping.
Seals and buckles for strapping;
Polypropylene Strapping
For a secure fastening on polypropylene strapping, choose plastic buckles that lock the strapping into place, or heavy duty metal seals.
Corded Polyester Strapping
For Corded polyester strapping, choose sturdy steel buckles that make it easy to tension and re-tension your strapping as goods settle.
Steel Strapping
Metal seals and buckles for steel strapping are available in different widths to suit different consignments and are perfect for making a robust seal around irregular shaped items.
Types of Seals and Buckles;
Steel buckles
Easy to apply, water resistant and no tools required. Phosphated/Sherardised buckles enhance water resistance, are high grip and suitable for polyester strapping. Galvanised buckles have a water resisting surface and are suitable for polypropylene strapping and corded strapping.
Standard metal
Semi-open galvanised metal seals slide over strapping with ease, and can be secured using a tensioner and sealer, or a combination tool.
Superior metal
Made from higher quality steel, these superior seals go under stringent quality control procedures to offer consistent seal integrity. Semi-open galvanised or zinc coated metal seals slide over strapping with ease, and can be secured using a tensioner and sealer, or a combination tool. Upgrade now for a more robust, strong and higher performing strapping seal.
Serrated metal
Serrated metal strapping seals meanwhile work much like galvanised seals. The serrated teeth create increased grip on the strapping once sealed and work to improve the breaking strain of the strap once secured. Used with both polyester and polypropylene strapping, for an even stronger seal.
Plastic buckles
An easy-to-use alternative to metal seals, they do not require an additional tool to seal straps. Standard or heavy duty, these buckles are for use with PP strapping only.
Steel snap on
For use with steel strapping. These seals are applied to steel strapping by simply putting the seal around the section of strapping which you would like to secure and seal using a steel strapping sealer.
Steel Lap over
For use with steel strapping. Also known as Push-Type or Overlapping metal seals. Withstand higher stress and are ideal for heavy duty applications and continuous use. Made steel for a strong, secure joint. The steel strap is tensioned by butting the nose of the tensioner against the seal.
The difference between galvanised and zinc coated;
Galvanisation is when a protective zinc coating is applied to steel or iron, to prevent rusting.
The most common method is hot-dip galvanising. This is when metal parts are fully submerged in a bath of molten zinc. Galvanised.
Zinc plating (also known as electro-galvanising) is a process where zinc is applied by using a current of electricity. While it does provide some rust protection, its thinner coating is not as rust resistant as hot dip galvanising. Its main advantage is it is cheaper and easier to weld.
